Kenyan artistes are becoming better content creators by the day. This week, it was a hot jam after another as musicians released music audio and videos that are now ruling the airwaves. And Standard Entertainment&Lifestyle now samples four of the brand new songs and leave it all to you to decide which is the most sizzling one among them.
Tesa by Nadia Mukami featuring Fena Gitu and Khaligraph Jones
Rating: 8/10
In this fresh jam that dropped on Wednesday, Nadia Mukami returns to the scene with a captivating club jam themed around the fun that goes around a club on a ‘Friday night’. It’s about the deejay playing good music, people enjoying on the dance floor and drinks pouring freely because “leo ni kutesa”. Fena Gitu does justice as she does her hooks; “look inaweza…leo sina pressure” literally the usual mood in a Kenyan club during the weekends.
Khaligraph does not disappoint with his rap as he ties it all together. The set on is Deska Torres directed video is simple and captivating. The storyline is well driven from start to end with party club scenes fusing well with the artistes on set…the shoots and lighting all on point. This is a well-edited and mastered video.
Nakubaliana by Gloria Muliro
Rating: 7/10
Besides her recent collabo with Willy Pozze, gospel singer Gloria Muliro has been out of the scene for a while. Now she makes an emphatic return with this Bwenieve produced worship video Nakubaliana. The moving video epitomizes God whose word is “yes and amen”. Known for her inspiring and motivating hit songs, Gloria sings her heart out, giving the song her all; this being one of the best comebacks witnessed in the gospel scenes in the recent years.
The video is done outside a house with the beauty of the outdoors and the artifacts captured in the outdoors complimenting the medium and close-up shots most employed in this video. And the director does well with colour balancing in both. The choice to apply bright colours, especially in Gloria’s props work in brightenin the scenes and so does the close ups used on the back-up artistes – whose refrain makes the chorus the most memorable part of the song. Four days now since its release, this looks like a sure winner, a gospel song set to be the next big church song.
Deni by Kaka Empire (King Kaka, Femi One and Jadi)

We can take the bet, this song will be one of the biggest club songs of the season. Only hours after it was released on Thursday, deejays had already picked it for their playlists and it’s no question it is on the trends. Deni is yet another party song by Kaka Empire featuring King Kaka, Femi One and the fresh Jadi among other fast-rising artistes. The set is a party house (club) where guys are partying the night out, the lyrics capturing how they plan to drink till ‘tutalipa deni’ later because they would run out of cash.
The Trey Juelz directed video starts off like a movie scene; with a compelling soundtrack as the group walks majestically to the club where drinks and cigars dominate the table. There is ‘sic’ artistry and chemistry as the artistes take turns pushing the agenda; Deni and the director does an excellent job in bringing out character and emotions all throughout the show. King Kaka deliberately fails to stand out giving room to the new artistes to shine. No question, this is already a big tune!
Angel of Mine by Treesha

Germany-based Kenyan singer Treesha has released her rendition of the 2009 Monica hit song Angel of Mine. Produced by BuffBaff records, the classic love ballad takes a smooth reggae tune. In an amazing way, Treesha owns the song in this instalment making it fresh and quite new to the year.
This could be the first time we are hearing of this talented Kenyan girl but judging from the song, this is a face to watch. She steals Monica’s old romantic charm and fuses in a good African flavour in a way that nobody imagined.
