Even as the Inter-Faith Council on the national response on coronavirus is set to finalise its consultations with various stakeholders this week on measures to to be adopted if places of worship are re-opened, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has come out to weigh in on the same.

Speaking on Friday in Eldoret during a burial ceremony for Mzee Nyongosei Tarus, the vocal Kapseret legislator questioned why the government had decided to open restaurants

“I want to urge you Deputy President to open churches. If you want this country to recover faster, open the churches because these people are no longer interested in what you are telling them,” he stated.

While questioning why restaurants (bars) have been opened while churches are still closed, Sudi communicated that it was high time for the government to reconsider opening them or else, he will lead a section of other congregants in attending church services against government’s directive.

“If you continue closing them, we will open them by force and attend services…we cannot allow for the bars to be opened yet churches are still closed…Kenyans want to pray together and ask God to heal this nation…and if you delay in opening, you know that I am always rude, I will lead these people in going to church and we will square it out with the police if they come after us!” warned Sudi

At the same time, Sudi assured Ruto of a brighter future saying Kenyans had hope in him since he had lead by example in developments as well as through his spiritual life. He however urged him not to be bothered by noise makers who included Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter together with Cherangany’s Joshua Kutuny, saying he should leave that to his brigade to deal with them.

He advised Kutuny, who was also in attendance against taking part in Ruto’s ‘crusification’ saying he will be dumped after 2022 and will later come back crying. He urged the Kalennjin elders who were in attendance to advise Kutuny accordingly.

“Hon Kutuny has been my friend since the time he was in Moi University and we have a good history with him. I want to urge you my friend to respect Ruto, since he is the one who helped and introduce you to politics. Your father was a good man and we doubt if that was his behaviour that your are currently portraying,” stated Sudi.

However, when he stood to speak, the DP assured residents that President Uhuru Kenyatta was soon going to announce how the churches together with schools and economy is going to be opened.

DP William Ruto lead other mourners in celebrating Mzee Nyokosei Tarus life as he was laid to rest in Kapseret, Uasin Gishu County.
