The Nairobi Metropolitan Services has commenced operations with Director General Mohammed Badi issuing deployment letters to 6025 county workers.
The exercise that is scheduled to continue until Friday comes after the government took unprecedented decision to take over key functions from the Nairobi county government.
In the deal, the county government transferred four key functions including that of Health, Transport, Planning and Development, and Public Works to the newly created Nairobi Metropolitan Services.
The exercise to issue deployment letters had earlier been moved from the Kenyatta International Conference Centre over social distancing concerns.
