Kenya Airways Confirms Allan Kilavuka as Group Managing Director

by biasharadigest

Kenya Airways has confirmed Mr. Allan Kilavuka as the Group Managing Director & CEO effective April 1st 2020. This comes barely 2 months after Mr. Kilavuka was appointed the Acting CEO of the airline following the resignation of Sebastien Mikosz last December.

It is particularly gratifying to me that the Board agreed to support the appointment of Allan to the full role of substantive CEO. During his short time as acting CEO of KQ, Allan has thrown all his energy into this role, whilst still maintaining his position of CEO of Jambojet.

Mr. Kilavuka now takes on the gargantuan task of trying to turn around the troubled airline which has reported losses for the past 6 past years. Part of his job will entail guiding the airline through the nationalization process that was started by the government about a year ago.

Furthermore, he will be tasked with navigating the airline through this year’s coronavirus menace that has hugely affected the aviation industry. Earlier this week, KQ was reported to have lost $8 Million due to the suspension of Nairobi-Guangzhou flights.

Mr Kilavuka will however continue to serve as the CEO of Jambojet until 31st March 2020 after which he will be the Kenya Airways representative on the Jambojet board. Jambojet is a fully owned subsidiary of Kenya Airways.
