Heavy traffic snarl-ups are expected across Nairobi County on Friday as four university graduations get underway.

They include the University of Nairobi, Kenyatta University, Daystar University and Technical University of Kenya.

At the University of Nairobi (UoN), over 8000 graduates will have degrees and diplomas conferred.

“The latest research on graduate employ-ability index indicate that graduates from the University of Nairobi are the most preferred. So count yourself lucky by default of being a graduate of this University,” Prof. Isaac Mbeche, the UoN Vice Chancellor said.

The Friday ceremony is the university’s 62nd since its inception in 1965.

Diploma awards that will be conferred are 747, Bachelor degree awards 5413, Post-graduate diploma awards 54, Master degree awards 2130, Fellowship awards 27, Doctor of Philosophy degree awards 56 and 1 Higher Doctorate Degree Award.

Meanwhile on Thika Road, Kenyatta University is celebrating its 47th graduation ceremony. A total of 6,077 graduands will be conferred with degrees and certificates.

Daystar University, whose main campus is located in Athi River, will also be having its 42nd graduation ceremony on Friday.

Graduands from both the Athi and Valley Road campuses will be conferred with degrees and certificates.

Technical University of Kenya, formerly Kenya Polytechnic, will be having its 7th graduation on Friday.

Other universities outside Nairobi that are having their graduation ceremonies on Friday are Kisii University and Kabarak University in Nakuru.
