Best and worst stocks at NSE: The best and worst stocks at NSE (Nairobi Securities Exchange) can now be revealed.

The bottom ten include Kenya Power which is trading at lows of Sh. 2.82 per share,  CIC Insurance which is selling at Sh. 2.89 per share, NSE which is selling at Sh. 11 per share, Kenya Airways, and Uchumi Supermarkets which is trading at Sh. 0.32 per share.

In 2019, Uchumi shed 56.3 per cent. The company has no issued its financial results since June 2018. Kenya Power, CIC Insurance and NSE have lost 31.2 percent, 25.6 percent and 24.1 percent respectively.

Other poor performers are Nairobi Business Ventures trading at Sh. 0.70, BAT which is trading at Sh. 471 per share and DTB which is selling at Sh. 108 per share. In 2019, these companies lost 41.7 percent, 36.4 percent, and 30.7 percent.

Kenya Airways was the year’s worst performer. The share is now trading at Sh. 2.11 per share.

The top best performers include Sameer Africa, Safaricom, Equity, KCB, NCBA, and Barclays Bank. Equity is currently trading at Sh. 53 per share, and KCB at Sh. 53.25 per share.

Sameer Africa’s share has gained 81 percent since the start of the year and closed trading at Sh. 3.35 , meaning an investor who invested Sh. 1 million in the stock on January 2 has gained Sh. 810, 000.

In contrast, investors who bought Kenya Airways shares worth Sh. 1 million, suffered a loss of Sh. 773,000 given the share has shed 77.3 percent since the start of the year to stand at Sh. 2.02 at close of trading.
