US based boat Hailing app GetMyBoat has debuted at the Kenyan Coast, looking to reach Kenyan tourists in the festive season. The 6-year-old company started operations in Kenya this year, already listing 94 boats.

Speaking of its Kenyan expansion in Kenya, Head of Marketing, Valerie Streif, revealed that the company is looking to diversify from the popular on-land safari and get people into the water.

“While many tourists visit Kenya for on-land safaris, there are still many great water adventures too and we wanted to capture that market and make it as easy as possible to get out on the water,” The Star quotes Streif.

Just like other ride hailing paltforms like Uber, the boat hailing app is looking to take advantage of underused capacity.

“It started because we noticed how many boats go unused in docks and marinas and they knew how many people wanted to go boating, but couldn’t access it,” Streif said.

At the same time, GetMyBoat wants to eliminate the hassles that come with touts when picking a boat for a trip.

At the moment, the platform provide fishing carters and private boat rentals for family and friends.
