– Jeff revealed he met the late Bob on Saturday, July 29, at his home where the CEO said he was ready for his death
– Collymore passed on at his home in Nairobi on Monday morning
– Safaricom noted the CEO had been undergoing treatment at Aga Khan Hospital after jetting back from UK
Citizen TV news anchor Jeff Koinange has opened up about his last moments with the late Safaricom CEO, Robert (Bob) William Collymore.
The revered journalist revealed for the first time how his last talk with the CEO went during their recent hang-out on Saturday, July 29.
Speaking in a candid interview with fellow journalist on Citizen TV on Monday, Jeff said Bob was full of life during their meeting but complained of some pain on his back.
The news anchor further revealed the CEO seemed very ready and prepared for death, especially having lived a good life.
”I have never seen anyone prepared for death like I did this man. We hanged out with him on Saturday afternoon at around 3 O’Clock. He was in a bit of pain, his spine was giving him problems.
So, he kept getting up and stretching his spine and sitting back down. But I am telling you, he kept saying look ‘look I have lived a good life. I have some regrets, it is not a perfect life, nobody is perfect but I’m ready now’,” Koinange recalled.
Koinange’s revelation came just hours after the CEO died following long battle with leukemia.
As was earlier reported by TUKO.co.ke, Bob died on Monday morning at the age of 61 at his home in Nairobi.
Bob’s death was confirmed by Safaricom chairman Nicholas Ng’ang’a who stated the CEO left behind a wife and four children.
It should be noted the CEO was in 2017 flown to the UK for treatment where he stayed for nine months before his return in June 2018.
