The Kenya Film Classification Board is appealing to the government to wipe out betting and gambling in the country.

The board’s Chief Executive Officer Ezekiel Mutua who was in Kericho says gambling and betting was now a menace and it is a ticking time bomb if not addressed as a matter of urgency.

With efforts to regulate betting companies proving to be an uphill task due to continuous court cases, the Kenya Film Classification Board CEO Ezekiel Mutua is now calling on Interior cabinet secretary Fred Matiangi to stand firm and wipe out the menace.

Speaking at Londiani High School in Kericho County during a media literacy programme meant to inspire students Mutua called for a case study on the previous winners to see how negatively it has affected the youth by misleading them to use quick fixes in getting money through negative influence from celebrities.

Mutua has termed betting a threat to national development and is warning that young people in the county have been hoodwinked into thinking success can only be attained through easy money.
