Citizen Radio’s journalist Mohamed Juma Njuguna has passed on after a long illness, the station confirmed on Saturday, June 8.
TUKO.co.ke understands the bubbly sports presenter had been admitted at a Nairobi hospital.
Juma’s sparkling career started in early 70s at the national broadcaster Voice of Kenya, now KBC, radio where he rose to several ranks and eventually became one of the most visible Swahili sports commentators in Kenya.
Though he started off as radio producer, Mohammed was trained in news reading for both radio and television while at KBC.
His passion for radio saw him attached to BBC Swahili for three years.
In 1999, he tendered his resignation to join the new kid on block then, Radio Citizen and assumed the position of content producer in 2016.
His voice reverberated across the young and the old including the retired president Mwai Kibaki who awarded him Head of State commendation (HSC) in 2010 in recognition of his contribution to broadcasting industry.
